The 15th modern running of Falcon Motor Club’s March Hare Trial, the only Classic Reliability Trial to be held in the Chilterns, took place on Sunday 3rd March 2013. 2008 saw a major milestone being passed as that years event marked the 50th anniversary of the very first March Hare Trial. Remarkably this years event will still use some of the sections from the very first event. The organising team every year comprises of well known and experienced trials competitors, thus guaranteeing a superb event in the beautiful countryside of Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. This year there was a change of personnel with David Jackson as Secretary of the Meeting, and Stephen Page as Chief Marshal. Both the start and finish was again at the friendly Chequers Inn, Redbourn, just 3 miles from the M1 junction 9. Trailer & tow car parking was available a short distance away. Breakfast snacks and drinks were on offer from 7.30, and post-event meals/refreshments were available at very reasonable prices [the venue is a 'Chef & Brewer' Pub/Restaurant, and booking is not necessary]. Competitors were encouraged to patronise the venue in order to ensure the facilities remain available for future use. The National B event was open to Falcon Motor Club members and all members of clubs belonging to the ACTC, ASEMC, ACSMC & AWMMC although the event was not a championship round. The Clubman section was open to Falcon Motor Club members and members of Stroud & District MC, MGCC (Midland Centre), VSCC, Eastbourne & Ram MC, West Suffolk MC, Farnborough District MC and the MCC who did not hold an MSA competition licence. The event was limited to 50 starters. Please sign our Guestbook.
Dean Partington made it 3 wins in 4 years with the closest ever result on the March Hare. Previous winners Michael Pearson [Dellow] and Dean Partington [DP Wasp] both finished with a terrific score of 8 despite the weather conditions, but Dean just edged ahead on the tie-breaking special tests to win by less than 1 second!
